Purpose:
• To enable young professionals with opportunities to network with other young professionals

• To represent a growing population in the city of Lubbock

• To cooperate with businesses and city entities by forming partnerships

• To serve as a resource for young professionals in the Region

• To promote and support civic and charitable opportunities within the community

Committees:
ENJOY LUBBOCK: Organizes events as well as assists in the publicizing of community events that may be of interest to YPGL members.
HIRE LUBBOCK: Identifies opportunities to encourage local companies to create internships, hire new graduates, and hire/promote Lubbock young professionals.
WHY LUBBOCK: Markets Lubbock to soon-to-be graduates and also alumni who may be interested in moving back to Lubbock through web-sites, job fairs & publicity.
Public Relations: Develops and implements a plan to provide the public and membership with positive information about YPGL and assists in creation and updating of marketing pieces. The committee will serve to promote the group’s activities and events through websites, weekly email bulletin, Business Connection Radio Show, announcements at group meetings, coordinating media relations, and community press releases.

Background:
An evaluation of over 100 young professionals from the Lubbock region was conducted in 2005, by AngelouEconomics. Results indicated a strong need for an outlet, where those age 21 -40 could come to network and collaborate with peers. Lubbock Economic Development Alliance wanted to develop an organization to attract and retain young talent throughout the region.

On the first Tuesday of every month, please join YPGL from 5:30pm - 7:30pm at select Lubbock hot spots. Please check calendar for scheduled locations.

Community Involvement:
YPGL is dedicated to giving back to the Lubbock community; Literacy Lubbock and Communities in Schools have been ‘adopted’ as the two non-profit organizations that we will be supporting. YPGL members are also encouraged to support other organizations throughout our region.
